There are two predominate luffa seed varieties available for sponges, we personally grow the Luffa aegyptiaca as they are better suited to our climate with a shorter season. We find the Luffa cylindrica variety has denser fibers and tend to rot more easily in our fall (rainy season) as they are drying on the vine.
